Reason For The Season

We tend to get caught up in the commercialism that surrounds Christmas. Black Friday! Cyber Monday! Trees! Lights! Decorations! Gifts! While there is nothing inherently wrong with any of that, it becomes wrong when we let it overshadow the true meaning of Christmas. There's one person that I know of that sums it up best. Linus:

I think this song says it best. Christ is the reason for the season. That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

Some of you may not consider this to be a classic Christmas song, but I sure do! Stryper, the pioneering Christian Metal band released this in 1986 in a re-release of their groundbreaking EP The Yellow And Black Attack!. I wish they'd release a full-length Christmas album!

Reason For The Season - Stryper
You, you say that you've got it figured out
That life's about, you do what you want to.

You, you walk the tightrope of unbelief
Can't you see? His way is reality.

We all know it's better to give than receive.
Then why don't we give God the glory?

Don't hide it, don't fight it, just believe.

He is the reason for the season.
He is the reason for today.
He is the reason for the season.
Celebrate, celebrate.

Your life can be a holiday
Everyday when He is with you.

Hey (HEY!), let's get back to what it's all about.
Shout it out. Christ is the reason.

We all know it's better to give than receive
His gift is for those who beleive.

You got it if you want it, just beleive.

He is the reason for the season.
He is the reason for today.
He is the reason for the season.

Celebrate.

We all know it's better to give than receive
Then why don't we give God the glory?

We all know it's better to give than receive
His gift is for those who beleive.

You got it if you want it, just beleive.

He is the reason for the season.
He is the reason for today.
He is the reason for the season.

Celebrate. Celebrate.
